Did you see the big story in Sunday’s Journal News about
crooked politicians using their campaign contributions to hire their criminal
defense lawyers? The Journal News said:
“Sen. David Carlucci, D-Clarkstown, showed about $17,700 in legal fees after he was named in a court document outlining federal charges against fellow Sen. Malcolm Smith, D-Queens, and top officials in Spring Valley.”
Is Carlucci telling the truth about cooperating fully? It doesn’t cost $17,000 to truthfully
cooperate about one meeting, does it?
What is Carlucci hiding? Why
isn’t he paying his lawyers out of his own pocket? Is this why he helped the Republicans block campaign
finance reform?
